Alisher Ikramov

Alisher Ikramov is currently Director for the Department of International Cooperation at the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (https://www.unesco-iicas.org/). He obtained a master’s degree in Mathematics (1986) at the Tashkent State University (now National University of Uzbekistan). He completed PhD studies at the Steklov’s Mathematical Institute in Moscow (1986–1991). From 1992 to 1995, he lectured at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Tashkent), Academy of State and Society Construction (Tashkent), and Tashkent Islamic University with focus on mathematical modeling in economics and cultural development studies. Alisher Ikramov was appointed to the position of the Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO in December 1994. During his twenty-five years in this position, he was involved with various activities within UNESCO fields of competence while also being the representative of Uzbekistan to the UNESCO Executive Board (2009–2013), Vice President of the Bureau of the UNESCO MOST Intergovernmental Council (2007–2009), Member of the Advisory Board of the UNESCO APEID (2007-2009), Member of the Governing Board of the ICHCAP (2011–2013), Member of the Governing Board of the INRULED (2015). Since August 2019, he has been in his current position at the International Institute for Central Asian Studies in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
